Biogeochemical cycles

  1. Elements:

    • Oxygen:
      • We need oxygen to form water but it is also very important for cellular respiration because oxygen receives the electrons and we can generate a large amount of energy so that these electrons go away with the oxygen. it can store a lot of energy.
    • Carbon:
      • Carbon has 4 valence electrons that is very good for forming bonds and can form complex organic materials, so if we think of proteins or lipids or carboidates or nucleic acids such as DNA, all this is built with carbon and that is why that carbon is good for making something with itself.
    • Hydrogen:
      • Hydrogen is important since it can form water and the water is very important to many things but above all because with water the life may exist because provides a medium in what life can exist and hydrogen is not only important for that. water if not also for him energy transfer.
    • Nitrogen:
      • we need nitrogen from the atmosphere to form genetic material
    • Phosphorus:
      • phosphorus is very important in the formation of our genetic material
    • Sulfur:
      • sulfur is important because it gives structure to large proteins
  2. cycles:

    • The Water Cycle:
      • The sun, which directs the water cycle, heats the water in the oceans, which evaporates into the air as water vapor. Updrafts of air carry the vapor to the upper layers of the atmosphere, where the lower temperature causes the water vapor to condense and form clouds.
    • Carbon Cycle:
      • The carbon cycle is the way in which carbon circulates through the atmosphere, oceans, and the Earth's surface and interior through chemical, physical, geological, and biological processes called the biogeochemical cycle.
    • Nitrogen Cycle:
      • There are five main processes that make up the nitrogen cycle that passes through the biosphere, atmosphere and geosphere: 1- Nitrogen fixation 2- the taking of nitrogen (growth of organisms) 3- nitrogen mineralization (disintegration) 4- nitrification 5- denitrification.
    • Phosphorus Cycle:
