RAM and ROM

1. What does RAM stand for?

   • RAM stands for Random Access Memory
   • What does it do?
     • Your RAM is a type of data which is wiped every time your computer is shut down.
       • Every time you save your files, it is wiped from the RAM and put on the ROM.
         • It can sometimes be referred as the computers brain
         • It is only wiped so that it can make room for other applications to run.

2. WHat does ROM stand for?

   • ROM stands for Read Only Memory
   • What does it do?
     • Once any data on your computer has been written on to ROM, it can not be deleted. Unlike RAM, ROM saves all data, even when it has been turned off.
       • ROM is nonvolatile memory, whereas RAM is Volatile.

3. Volatile Memory?

   • Volatile Memory is a type of computer storage which only keeps it's data when it is powered on. This can mainly be considered as RAM rather than ROM.
