1. What is Programming?

   • Every instruction that is found in all softwares have to be written by programmes, which use specialised softwares to create and check their work.
   • Programmes will create the instructions ,that are inputted, and then convert it to a language that the computer can understand.

2. How?

   • This special software includes the programming software such as:
     • Editors which programmers use to type and create the instructions which are known as source code; while the programmers can understand the source code, computer systems usually cannot!
     • Compliers which are special applications that can convert the instructions into a language that the computer can understand-this is known as Object code.
     • Debuggers are used to find errors in the code.
     • Linkers are used to link or join parts of the programmers code together with other code.

3. Some softwares are designed to be used on different types or makes of computer. This often involves the use of 'interpreters' so that the same code may be understood on different computers.

4. Code written in interpreted languages are often slower but have the advantage of working on many different computers. This is especially important when many applications have to work on different computers over the internet.

5. An example of interpreted language is Java which is used by some websites and has to work in many different web browsers on all sorts of different computers.
