Computational Thinking
Pattern Recognition
- Good use of pattern recognition can save a lot of time when solving a problem If we spot that the same thing happens multiple times, we only need to solve it once, then apply the solution multiple times
Algorithms
- A Structured English algorithm uses short, structured sentences to express the instructions.
- An algorithm is a procedure used for solving a problem or performing a computation. Algorithms act as an exact list of instructions that conduct specified actions step by step in either hardware- or software-based routines.
Abstraction
- Abstraction is the process of removing the unnecessary characteristics and details that we don’t need in order to concentrate on those we do. It gives a clearer idea of what we are trying to solve.
Decomposition
- It is important in problem solving, because trying to solve a large problem all at once is far more difficult than extracting lots of smaller problems and solving them one at a time
- Decomposition is the act of taking a large problem and breaking it down into smaller problems
