   • A data base is a place where the data is stored and can be structured and can be easlily assessed
   • A data base can be anything that can store infomation and can easliy be assessed

   • The school office is a data base as it stores information about everyone in one place and can be assessed easlily and is well structured

4. Disadvantages of data base

   • Paper based data can be burned and there will not be another copy so the infomation is lost
   • Substantial hardware and software start-up costs it can be expensive
   • Database systems are complex, difficult, and time-consuming to design and not always keep neat and be organised all the time.
   • Extensive conversion costs in moving form a file-based system to a database system as it can be hard to move the files as the data could of been deleted
   • Initial training required for all programmers and users as the system can be very tricky to get used to.
   • Damage to database affects virtually all applications programs as its all in the same place and one mistake can miss the whole system up.
   • filed base databases arent as secured as computor datbases as the paper ones can set a light and can be stiolen easier than the computor based data

5. Advantages of data bases

   • Reduced data redundancy so that its easier to acsessed as its online
   • Reduced updating errors and increased consistency
   • Greater data integrity and independence from applications programs
   • Reduced data entry, storage, and retrieval costs
   • Improved data security this means that the security of the data is much more better as its in a seccure place to be put and it has been sorted out so that it is clar to see.
   • Improved data security mean that the data is more safer in a place were the data is stored and organised
