1. What does Encryption do?

   • Encryption is when you create a password and the computer scrambles up the letters so that only you know what it is and only you can get to the data.

2. How do you encrypt a message?

   • To encrypt a message you would have to use different letters or numbers for different words e.g. A=1

   • To decipher a message you have to know what the letters were for each word and then you would either know or you would have to find out what the message was using your 'new' alphabet.

   • We use encryption when we are sending personal details like you address and phone number to someone and we do not want other people to see it.

   • We can tell if a website is using encryption if you have to log in by using a username/email and a password because that means that only the people who know the password and email will be able to see the data/information inside.
