Computational thinking
- OOP
- Abstraction
- Thinking of only the necessary parts of a problem, allowing a problem to solved more efficiently in terms of time and resources.
- This can mean to only look at a specific function that the problem is associated with, instead of the entire program.
- Thinking of only the necessary parts of a problem, allowing a problem to solved more efficiently in terms of time and resources.
- Polymorphism
- To ensure a method will take all types of data we want it to. For example a shape method would have to accept all kinds of shapes.
- Inheritance
- A general class or similar is used in multiple parts of a program that has a set of functions inside.
- An example of this is an to have a worker class, that includes functions such as work hours etc. A manager class would have all the functions a worker would, plus more
- Encapsulation
- To make functions within a class private, preventing outside functions from making changes to private attributes.
- This prevents accidental changes from being made, which allows a program to still function properly
- Abstraction
- OOP 2
- BackTracking
- Going back to the most recent working point of a program to save time and resources
- Data Mining
- Searching through large amounts of data to find relationships
- Performance Modelling
- Used to test how specific parts of a program may function. Testing Specific modules instead of an entire program.
- Saves on time, resources and costs. Often the model needs to be very accurate to life represent a true to life result
- Pipelining
- Separating a program into sections where some problems can be processed in parallel to other problems.
- Visualization
- Using graphs and other visualization methods to find patterns and solve problems.
- BackTracking
- Reusability
- Reduces the cost involved in creating a new program.
- Increases dependency on old code.
- Collaboration is a great way to utilize reusability as many people can search for opportunities to reuse old code.
- Caching
- Storing webpage data to decrease load time of a frequently visited page.
- An old version of a website may be fetched from cache.
- If an attempt to fetch a webpages cache and it isn't present, performance is lowered.
