2. THE PARTICLE MODEL

   • Physical changes can be understood by using the particle model.
   • Solids are incrompessible & hold their shape.
     • Liquids are incompressible & flow to take the shape of their container.
       • LIQUIDS
         • In liquids, the particles are tightyl packed together and that makes lliquids incompressible.
         • The particles have a bot of space apart .
         • This gives liquid the ability to flow and take the shape of their container.
     • Gases are compressible & fill their entire container.
     • SOLIDS
       • In solids, the attraction between particles binds them tightly together.
       • For this reason solids are incompressible and hold their shape
       • The vibration increases when the solid is heated(melting).
