         • - was the leader of North Korea  - Initiated the was  - wanted to unite Korea under   communist rule

            Anmerkungen:

            • - June 25th 1950  - will the support of the soviets North Korea, lead by Kim Il-Sung, invaded South Korea 
      2. Mao Zedong

         Anmerkungen:

         • - Chairman of China and leader of the communist party of China  - Agreed to help North Korea invade South Korea 
      3. Joseph Stalin

         Anmerkungen:

         • - Agreed to help North Korea in invading South Korea  - Used the Korean war to fight against the US without going into a hot war  - Provided the North with weapons and training

            • - the creation of a single party state lead by a Marxist-Leninist communist party

            • - Wages are set and differentiated according to skill and intensity of work  - means of production are under public control

            Anmerkungen:

            • - Supports universal social welfare - elimination of the political power of the bourgeoisie  - abolishment of private property - supports the emancipation of women  - wants a classless society - education that teaches its citizens to live a disciplined and self-fulfilling lifestyle dictated by the social norms of communism
         5. Juche

            Anmerkungen:

            • Replaced Marxism-Leninism in 1972 as the countries official ideology. It sates that there is no god but Kim Il-Sung and that he is the eternal Persident of North Korea. The three key principles of Juche are: independence, self sustenance and self-defence. 
2. South Korea

      1. Syngman Rhee

         Anmerkungen:

         • - Leader of South Korea  - Strongly anti-communist - wanted to unify Korea
         1. executes 10,000 people

            Anmerkungen:

            • - 25th June 1950  - Rhee executes 10,000 people fearing that South Korean's will join the communists 
         2. Armistice agreement

            Anmerkungen:

            • - Sign agreement to stop fighting  - Korea still divided  - Agree to neutral zone called DMZ 
      2. Harry S. Truman

         Anmerkungen:

         • - President of the United States - fear of communism spreading through Asia  - Failure over that the US was not victorious in the Korean war results in loss of support for his policies in America 
         1. Douglas McArthur

            Anmerkungen:

            • - head of UN command  - appointed by President Harry S. Truman  - European countries distrusted his judgement  - inflicted heavy casualties on the Chinese  - Violated the presidents directive - Was replaced by Ridgeway on April 10 1951 because of this 
         2. Mathew Ridgeway

            Anmerkungen:

            • April 9 1951 Ridgeway replaces McArthur as Supreme commander in Korea 
         3. UN and US Intervention

            • - June 27 1950 -UN approves US intervention in the Korean war to help stop the spread of communism - first time the security council has approved the use of military force  - UN forces in Korea placed under the command of U.S. military

         Anmerkungen:

         • - Shares its traditional culture with North Korea  - Historically influenced greatly by China  - Actively encourages arts  - drink more alcohol on a weekly basis compared to the rest of the world
