1. Simple formulas contain +, -, * and /.

2. Relative cell references use data in the same place relative to the answer cells.

3. Absolute cell references won't be changed. To make a cell absolute put a dollar sign there, $.

   • E.g. B12, is the relative cell reference, and $B$12 is the absolute cell reference.
   • These are used to represent the % commission a letting agency charges on its properties.

4. Click the cell where you want the answer. Type an equals sign, telling the computer to expect a formula. The type in the formula.
