1. Magnetic

   • Advantages
     • Huge storage capacity in Tb
     • Cheapest
     • Data can be stored for a long time
   • Disadvantages
     • Magnetic fields can corrupt data
       • Not very portable
         • Parts can wear out over time
           • Slow to access data

2. Solid State

   • Advantages
     • Very portable
       • It is very hardy
         • Fast to access data
   • Disadvantages
     • Very expensive
       • It has a limited number of erase/write cycles

3. Optical

   • Advantages
     • Very portable
       • It is inexpensive
         • Immune to magnetic fields
   • Disadvantages
     • Disks can be scratched or broken
       • Slower to write and access data
         • Inexpensive for small amounts of data
