- Ram stands for Random
Access Memory
- Ram is a a fast tempory
computer memory which is
accessed randomley.
- The operating system, applications and the
Graphical User Interface (GUI) are stored in
the Ram.
- You can change what is stored in the Ram as there
are applications which need to change.
- Rom stands for
read-only memory
- Rom is a computer memory
which cannot be changed by
the user. It retians the memory
after the computer is turned
off.
- The Rom stores all of the
instructions for the computer
to start up when it is turned
on again.
- You cannot change what is stored in
the Rom because the instructions
need to stay the same.
- Volatile: Memory that losesd
its content when the power is
turned off
- Non-Volatile: Memory that retains its
content when the power is turned off
- Rom is non-volatile
- Ram is volatile
