Ram and Rom
- Ram: Random access memory
- Computer memory available to the user for creating, loading, or running
programs and for the temporary storage and manipulation of data, in which
time of access to each item is independent of the storage sequence. As a
storage medium, RAM is volatile, so its contests are lost when the power fails
or is turned off.
- Volatile
- programs are open and the
instructions are waiting to be
processed
- Applications and data are stored
- On the Ram every time you open a
program or data you are changing
the Ram automatically
- Rom: Read only memory
- Computer memory in which programs instructions, operating
procedures, or other data are permanently stored, generally on
electronic chips during manufacture, and that ordinarily cannot be
changed by the user.
- non-volatile
- contains all of
the instructions
needed to start
the computer
- On the Rom you can change
the instructions but its a very
bad idea as you could crash
you computer
