1. RAM

   • programs currentley in use
     • data currentley in use
   • volatile
     • loses everything when turned off

2. ROM

   • Non volatile
   • Data is pre-written and comes with the computer

3. BIOS

   • BIOS chip performs test componets are present and functing correctly checks completed cpu starts operating system if a test fails an error message is shown.

4. virtual memory

   • virtual memory is memory which is not on your computer but on the HDD. it is simulated memory
   • virtual memory is needed because if your hard drive runs out of space you have virtual memory to allocate some storage.

5. Flash memory

   • Flash memory is used in USB DRIVES ,Solid State Drive and Memory Cards
