1. Visuo-spatial sketchpad

   • Encodes visual + spatial info
   • Visual cache: what it looks like
   • Inner scribe: relationship between objects

2. Episodic buffer

   • Integrates info from CE, PL, V-SS and LTM
   • Constructs a mental episode of experiences
   • Extra storage

3. Phonological loop

   • Encodes speech + sound info
   • Phonological store: holds heard info briefly
   • Articulatory process: rehearses heard and seen words over + over

4. Central executive

   • Monitors + coordinates all other functions in WMM
   • Organises 3 slave systems
