1. code that websites are written with

   • HTML code will include HTML, CSS, XML,
     • XML is extension mark up language, used for certain things in HTML
   • it may be edited using a code editor, such as notepad
   • these websites make up the numerous amount of websites of the WWW

2. tags

   • tags are used in HTML for defining specific things
     • for example, <body> defines the main part of the webpage
   • these include
     • <audio>
       • defines sound content
     • <q>
       • defines a short quotation
     • <img>
       • defines an image
     • <p>
       • defines a paragraph
     • <a>
       • defines a hyperlink
     • <h1>-<h6>
       • largest to smallest header sizes
     • <br>
       • defines single line break
     • <div>
       • divides the page into sections. it will allow you to edit one particular section of the webpage. For example, if you want to change the colours of one particular area of the webpage

3. CSS is Cascading Style Sheets

   • CSS is used to style webpages
     • colours
     • fonts

4. to make a good webpage, there are several criteria

   • it should be consistent throughout (same font, same colours, etc.)
   • you should copy and paste the code for each of your webpages, so they are identical (except for the content)
     • this means that the webpages won't 'jump' to one another, but the transition will be smooth and invisible
   • a maximum of three colours used for the webpage
   • a navigation bar, with working links to change to different webpages. A good website should include multiple pages
     • the first page should be named as index.html

5. how to make a website

   • you need to establish who the target audience will be
     • if it is young children, you will need to make it colourful and bright, and it should have lots of images and less text
     • adults will want more text than images and prefer less bright colours and images
   • establish the use of the website; information, entertainment, shopping, etc.
   • you need to create a storyboard to establish the look of your website
   • you need to research the topic you are writing about
   • then, you will start to write the code
     • pages you may include are home page, about us page, shopping page, register page, and maybe a page relating to the information of your website, depending what your website is about
