1. Optical

   • Advantages
     • Has good portability because its short and light
     • Can store good amounts of data
     • Very cheap
   • Disadvantages
     • Can easily break or be scratched
     • Can sometimes not be reused
     • May not be as good as other solid state or magnetic storage devices
   • Features
     • Data is burned onto the disks with lasers
     • Lasers are also used as an output for the data as well

2. Magnetic

   • Advantages
     • Can store data in big amounts quickly
     • A magnetic tape can be used again and again repeatedly
     • Generally inexpensive and budget friendly
   • Disadvantages
     • Can break since it has moving parts
     • Data quality erodes over time
     • special equipment needs to be bought to run magnetic devices
   • Features
     • Uses electric pulses to scan the media on the disc
     • Has about 15 years lifespan

3. Solid state

   • Disadvantages
     • Can be very expensive
     • Very low chance of recovering lost data
     • Use up a lot of power
   • Advantages
     • can usually store more than magnetic or optical devices
     • Won't break easily
     • Have lightweights components making them easier to carry
