What does a storage device actually do? A storage device holds data files of anything you do on a computer.
What does an input device actually do? An input device receives a signal and sends another signal to a computer.
What is the purpose of a power supply? The power supply sends electricity around the computer.
What is the purpose of the computer case? The case of the computer holds everything together.
What is the purpose of the motherboard? The motherboard sends messages to all of the components inside the computer.
What is the purpose of the Processor? The processor is where all the processes are carried out in the computer.
What is the purpose of the RAM? Random Access Memory (RAM) is where the computer stores the current task that is being carried out. It is also volatile.
What is the purpose of a hard drive? The hard drive is where all of your documents, pictures, programmes etc. are stored on the computer.
What is the purpose of ROM? ROM stands for read-only memory. It's used to store the start-up instructions for a computer.
What is a repetitive strain injury (RSI) and what causes them? Usually damage to the fingers and wrists caused by repeated movements over a long period of time.
What is the cause of back injuries when using a computer? Usually due to poor posture or sitting in an awkward position when using a computer.
What is eye strain and what is the cause? Usually caused by staring at a computer screen for a long time. Particularly in poor light, in glare or with a flickering screen.
By law, what do employers have to provide for their employees? (in regards to working with computers) Adjustable chairs, Foot supports, Suitable lighting, Workstations are not cramped, When working on a computer staff take frequent breaks, Appropriate eye and eyesight tests by an optician.
What is the purpose of Binary? The purpose of Binary is the way data files are stored in a computer.
How many bits are in a Binary number? There are 8 bits a binary number.
What devices do you need to connect to the internet? PC/Computer, Network Interface Card, A Router and A Modem
