1. The Structure of the Atom

   • Has a shell around it.
     • Inside the shell are electrons. Electrons are negatively charged.
   • Inside the atom is a nucleus
     • Inside the nucleus are protons. Protons are positively charged
     • Inside the nucleus there are also neutrons. Neutrons do not have a charge
   • An atom is neutrally charged, because the positive charges from the protons and the negative charges from the electrons cancel each other out
