Correlation Techniques
- Definition - Correlation is a relationship between 2 or more
variables to see if a trend or systematic pattern exists
between them
- Co-variables = IV and DV
- Correlation Co-efficient is a number between -1 and +1 that tells us how
closely the co-variables in a correlational analysis are related.
- Types of correlation
- Positive Correlation - As one variable increases
so does the other
- No correlation - No relationship between
variables
- Negative Correlation - As one variable
increases the other decreases
- Positive Correlation - As one variable increases
so does the other
- Target population - The people you are interested
in studing.
- Sample - A small selection of a target
population
- Intervening variable - A variable that comes
between 2 other variables which used to explain
the relationship between those 2 variables.
