   • When you draw a house, the brain automatically abstracts, you wouldn't draw a driveway and a front garden for example.
   • Abstraction is removing unnecessary detail from a problem

2. Decomposition

   • Breaking down a problem into more manageable parts
   • eg. Partitioning

3. Pattern Recognition

   • Identifying repeated problems and solving them together

4. Algorithms

   • A list of step-by-step instructions to solve a problem
   • Computers have very complicated algorithms
