Part A-1: Character Attitudes
and Abilities of Nicholas II
- Was a man of weakness and limited outlook
- Weak willed and of limited intelligence
- Was going to continue the autocratic ideology of his father, Alexander III, and
also had ideas instilled in him by his personal childhood tutor, Pobedonostsev.
- Easily influenced by those close to him: E.g. his
wife, the Tsarina, Alexandra; Pobedonostsev.
- Nicholas felt he had been put in place by God,
and so had a divine right to rule (which was
backed up by the Russian Orthodox Church).
- Was a bad decision maker, which was made worse by those
surrounding him not highlighting bad decisions (Yes Men).
