Two Types of IQ Tests

1. Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon

   • developed first intelligence test
     • Designed to identify students who did and didn't learn as fast in school
   • Developed the "mental age" concept
     • (Mental age/ actual age) x 100 = IQ

2. The Wechsler Test

   • most commonly used IQ test
   • Test for Children (WISC)
   • Test for Adults (WAIS)
   • Produced four component subscores
   • Took away verbal aspects to make it less racial
