       • A peice of hardware which displays information and results from the processor
     • Storage
       • Hard drive

       • A peice of hardware which can store information outside of the processor
         • Needed as data is lost when processor is turned off
         • Can be used to transfer data between computers
       • While RAM is storage, it is not considered to be a peripheral

       • Software that helps run the computer

         • User interface - allows the user to control the computer
         • Programs that manage the movement/organisation of data
         • Programs whcih translate human languages into one which the processor can use
       • Operating system and utiliy programs are types of system software
     • Application software
       • programs which allow the user to perform tasks
         • Usually application software allows the user to do something towards a particular purpose
         • They might even increase productivity
           • EG. Calender
         • Or provide entertainment to the user
           • EG. a game
     • Software are the programs that make computers produce useful results
     • They are a set of instructions that make the computer do something useful
     • Without programs the computer wouldn't know what to do
