1. Firewall

   • Prevents harmful data entering your computer
   • Controls which programs can send and receive data packets
   • Used to help protect a computer from intruders
   • Used when a program is trying to connect to another network
   • A fire wall controls which programs can be sent or receive data packets
   • You need to control which data packets you send and receive data packets because you only allow safe programs onto your computer

2. Antivirus

   • Quarantines any programs or files which are harmful
   • Needs updating regulary to make sure it knows the latest threats
   • Should be used on email attachments and downloads
   • Scans computer periodically
   • Protects against malicious software
   • To make sure that it knows what are the latest virus is and it scans it periodically to make sure you have no viruses on your computer
   • If you dont have an anti virus software you computer will have old viruses and new viruses that are being created everyday
   • Phishing means that people are basically they are fishing you emails and taking your personal infomation and send you an untrusted email that says fill in your details

3. Encryption

   • Encryption is a way of communicating but only the receiver gets.
   • It scrambles the word into its own numbers and only your receiver will understand it.
   • To Encrypt a code you need a cipher.
   • To Decrypt code you need a key
   • we use Encryption to secretly send data packets to people.
   • HTTPS= a word that is encrypted that tells you the wbsite is secure

4. Malware

   • Trojan hores
     • Trojan horse is one of the most famous computer tricks.
     • The trojan horse is a disguised virus to trick you into thinking its something good
   • zombie
     • Once you get the infected zombie it will affect every other computer because you computer cant controll its self
   • worm
     • A computer worm is a standalone malware computer program that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers

5. passwords security

   • Make sure your passwords are complucated but easy for you to remember
   • In your password you should add a number or word that only you know
   • Make sure you keep your password to yourself
   • Use symbols an upper case and lower case to create a password

6. computer security

   • Make sure when you buy something online its not a hack
   • When opening and email make sure it has http otherwise it might not be safe
   • Be careful when downlading thing that they are not hacked and have a load of viruses
   • The consequense is maybe being hacked and the hacker will find all passwords and usernames and adresses wich will affect you
