Craik and Tulving (Key Study for LOP) Evaluation
  1. GENERALISABILITY
    1. The study can not be generalised as it used a small sample of twenty participants. This is not a big enough sample to generalise to the whole population.
    2. RELIABILITY
      1. The study is reliable to an extent as it was a lab experiment, therefore there was a high level of control of all the variables. This means the experiment is reliable as all the variables had been manipulated.
      2. APPLICATION
        1. The study can be applied to real life as it shows how most people recall information. It could be used for educational purposes.
        2. VALIDITY
          1. The experiment has low ecological validity as they were not acting naturally due the experiment using a lab method.
          2. ETHICS
            1. No informed consent given as the participants didn't know they were going to be given the test - it was 'incidental'
