If a solid dissolves in the water we say that is a SOLUBLE. The substance that dissolves is called the SOLUTE and the liquid that it dissolves n is called solvent. Water is a good solvent because many substances will dissolve in it. If you have been using gloss paint you can not wash your brush in water because the paint will not dissolve.The correct solvent for gloss paint is white spirit.

NOTE !!!!!

* not soluble= insoluble

* solute+ solvent = solution

* Solubility= how much solute can dissolve in a solvent

= 10g of solute/ 100g solvent

* Supersaturated= the solution can dissolve more than it can.
