Key Definitions
Simplex: Data transmission in one direction only
Full-Duplex: Data transmission in two direction at same time
Half-Duplex: Data transmission in two-direction but not at the same time
Transmition
Serial: Data is sent one bit at a time over a single wire or channel
Parrallel:: Several bits of data are sent down several different wires or channels at the same time. (e.g. byte of data is sent down 8 wires/channels)
Asynchronous: Data being transmitted in an agreed bit pattern
Synchronous: a continueous stream of data which is accopanied by timing signals generated by an internal clock
Key definitions
Logic gates

Buffer: A buffer is a temporary memory are in a device
Computer Architecture: How a computer is designed
Buses: They move data around the computer and also send out control signals to synchronise the internal operations
Register: High-speed storage areas within the computer
Memory unit: Made up of addresses and contents
Control unit: Controls the operation of the memory, processor and input/output devices
Interrupt: An interrupt is a signal sent from a device(or from same software) to the processor requesting its attention
