metals on/near the stepped line are called metaloids: properties are between those of metals and non metals.

Physical properties: a property you can observe and measure. e.g. the colour, smell, temperature

Chemical properties: a property described when/after a chemical reaction takes place. e.g. the atoms re-arangig within the substance

non metals do not react with water easily as they are not reactive, however, for a non-metal to react with water, it has to become a non-metal oxide which
