• monobasic base - accepts 1 proton = NH3

• tribasic= PO43-
• ions found in soluble compounds like sodium carbonate + sodium phosphate
• conjugate base= acid donates proton species formed is the conjugate base of the acid
• conjugate acid= when base accept s a proton the species formed is the conjugate acid of the base
