Conservative Plate Boundary

• two plates are moving in the same way at different speeds or different ways.
• they move across a fault line
• they then lock.
• the point they lock is called the focus.
• pressure builds up
• the plate then release and the pressure is released
• the pressure is released In waves of energy known as seismic waves which are the cause of earthquakes
• the point above the focus is known as the epicentre
• e.g. san Andrea's Fault Line

• 
• this is a plate where the two plates involved must be continental and moving towards each other.
• because both of the plates are both continental they cant be destroyed, insetae they buckle.
• the land then rises
• the new land that ahs risen then forms a fold mountain
• e.g. the European Alps

• The continental plate and oceanic plate move towards each other
• the oceanic plate subducts because it is danser
• as the plate subducts it creates friction which melts the oceanic plate
• this forms a magma chamber and pressure builds up
• when the pressure is too much it expels it in a violent explosion
• side vents may form as well
• of the side of the volcano lava will flow, pyroclastic flows also rush
• steam Is also expelled as water enters the magma chamber
• an example is mount st helens
