| CARBOHYDRATES | These are like fuel, slow realising energy. examples: bread / potatoes / cereals. |
| PROTIENS | These are vital for growth and to repair damaged areas. examples: meat/ egg / fish. |
| FATS | fats act as a store of energy, which you use if you body runs out of carbohydrates. e.g. butter/ cooking oil / cream. |
| VITAMINS | only needed in small amounts, they keep many vital processes happening. e.g. veg, fruit, cereal. |
| MINERALS | iron- blood calcium- teeth/bones sodium- nerves iodine ( seafood) - thyroid |
| FIBRE | it keeps your body healthy and fit and working. same as vitamins. |
| WATER | about 75% of your body is water and all chemical reactions take place in water. |
