  1. Collision Domains
    1. Referred to an Ethernet concept of all ports whose transmitted frames would cause a collision with frames sent by other devices in the collision domain
      1. The devices share the available bandwidth.
        1. The devices might inefficiently use that bandwidth because of the effects of collisions, particularly under higher utilization.
      2. Broadcast Domains
        1. Set of devices to which that broadcast is delivered
        2. Virtual LANs (VLAN)
          1. You can create multiple broadcast domains using a single switch
          2. Campus switches
            1. Access
              1. Provides a connection point (access) for end-user devices. Does not forward frames between two other access switches under normal circumstances.
              2. Distribution
                1. Provides an aggregation point for access switches, forwarding frames between switches, but not connecting directly to end-user devices.
                2. Core
                  1. Aggregates distribution switches in very large campus LANs, providing very high forwarding rates.
