  1. Who writes popular music history?
    1. Industry, critics and journalists, institutions.
      1. What institutional pressures are they under, and what vested interests do they have?
      2. Advertisements influence consumers thus determining which artists are the most successful.
        1. Any form of media coverage is essentially advertisement for an artist, regardless of what is written.
        2. How history is perceived to have taken place.
          1. Events can happen, but if there is no documentation of said event, it will be forgotten.
          2. Plutarchian - the study of great men and their character. Plutarch was a Greek historian and biographer who wrote about great men in history.
