About Arabic Alphabet

GoConqr Original

Start with letters and sounds

The Arabic Alphabet collection brings together resources made by GoConqr users. A useful starting point is Arabic Letters, a flashcard deck that pairs letter names with sound representations, such as /ba/ and b. Go through the cards and look for names and sounds you recognize.

Another alphabet deck shows Arabic letters alongside names and indicates whether examples connect. Use it after the sound cards to compare the written forms with the names you have seen.

Look at forms and vowels

A second alphabet deck shows forms such as ا and ـا, as well as different forms of ب. Compare these examples as you work through the cards. The Arabic Vowels deck pairs written examples such as بِ, بُ and بَ with bi, bu and ba.

For a short written explanation, open Arabic Info. Its notes include Alif Maqsura and where it appears in a word. Return to the flashcards as you read to compare the written examples.

Check recognition with a quiz

The Egyptian Arabic Alphabet quiz asks learners to identify letters and answer questions about their order. Try it after studying the letter cards, then return to the cards to review anything you want to check. Another quiz asks about sun and moon letters, including the sound of lam.

There are no mind maps listed on this page. With a free account, you can make your own map and use it alongside a quiz: organize letter names and forms on the map, then return to the quiz to check your recognition.
