Basic phrases and conversation quizzes

These quizzes let you test phrases in several languages. An Irish quiz covers expressions such as “as soon as” and “the following day”. A Korean quiz asks about apologies and ways to get someone's attention, while Thai quizzes include greetings, politeness and requests for help.

Choosing a quiz

Start with a quiz in the language you want to practise. The Thai greetings quiz is a useful starting point for everyday exchanges. For Korean question-and-answer practice, try Customized Korean 2, which includes questions about where someone lives and who someone is.

Work through a quiz and note the phrases you find difficult. Say them aloud, then return to the questions to check your recall. If you want to study phrases before testing yourself again, switch to flashcards on the unit page. Notes there can also help when you want to look at how phrases fit together.

Pick a quiz and explore the phrases it covers.
