  6. 3.1.2 POTENTIAL FUTURE USE OF ICT

    • 3.1.2 POTENTIAL FUTURE USE OF ICT
  7. Implications of possible future:

    • developments and future uses of ICT.
    • Higher standard of living: as workers are more productive with the use of IT
    • More flexible working: higher expectations by customers; can be conducted at any time
    • Greater democracy
    • Improvement in health & life expectancy: use of IT controlled scanners
    • More intelligent systems in the home: such a robotic cleaning devices etc.
  8. 3.1.3 Implications of future:

    • developments and future uses of ICT.
    • 3.1.3 Implications of future:
  9. The impact of 5G on society

    • It is the next generation of wireless networks encompassing all networks in one platform.
    • The positive impact on society is that it reduces confusion and frustration as technology gather all networks on one platform.
    • Negative impact on society is that many of the old devices would not be competent to 5G, hence, an expensive procedure to access this new technology.
    • The impact of 5G on society
  10. Impact of virtual offices:

    • On the way organisations are run.
    • A virtual office is a business location that exists only in cyberspace. A virtual office setup allows business owners and employees to work from any location by using technology such as laptop computers, cell phones and internet access.
    • The impact is has on organisations are:
    • Organisations can complete their tasks/day to day work more quicker because the virtual office does not limit where they can work and is accessible with the technology.
    • However it can encourage bad time management if they are not monitored often with the lack of a physical office it takes away the professionalism.
  11. Impact of virtual offices on individuals

    • Positive impacts
    • They can access the work anyway they are as long as they have the correct technology and equipment
    • They can feel less pressurised and have more time for a less stressful environment
    • They do not have a structured timetable/schedule like usual which means they have the responsibility of planning their work
    • Negative impacts
    • They can get complacent and slack off doing work
    • They do not have the motivation, guidance and help from a leader/expert if they are struggling
    • The lack of a structured timetable can mean that the workload they produce daily can fluctuate and therefore become inconsistent impacting the quality of the work they produce.
  12. Impact of future developments:

    • in e-commerce on individuals as consumers.
    • Things such as bio-metric systems; eye scanners to finger print verification can impact the way consumers interact with e-commerce. It can be negative because this type of technology is new and can be unstable. For example, using body parts to verify a person in commerce means that the consumers will need to give their personal and important details to e-commerce which can be controversial. However, it can be positive in general consumers will benefit from the future development as it will try to make the consumers lives more efficient and easier.
  13. Social issues surrounding:

    • how ICT has led to changing work patterns.
    • Positive
    • Work patterns can be flexible meaning that the workers have more time to spend in leisure
    • Workers will be more attracted to the different work patterns and will enjoy it more.
    • Negative
    • If the work patterns are not very flexible, the workers will have to change their lifestyle to comply with their work
    • The change of work patterns also means that the workers will have adapt the way they are used to working and will mean that the quality of work they produce can fluctuate.
  14. Cultural issues surrounding how:

    • ICT is leading to changing lifestyles.
    • Positive
    • Cultures can learn about new technology that can aid them to project/outreach people in their religion in more efficient or innovative ways.
    • Negative
    • ICT can change the way people live their lives and this might conflict with their religions and strict culture of not using advanced technology
    • Technology that "plays god" can affect most if not all religions affecting the accessibility of people and new technology.
  15. Ethical issues surrounding:

    • the use of the “Snoopers Charter”.
    • Positive
    • Can help e-ccomerice businesses to focus on the previous searches of people
    • Can help fight against terrorism
    • Technically would reduce criminal activity if they are monitored with or without their conscience
    • Negative
    • Lack of trust with the government
    • It conflicts with the humans right and privacy of information and overall is a poorly devised charter in my opinion.
  16. Economic issues surrounding:

    • the digital divide (either nationally or globally).
    • Positive
    • Can increase sales and overall profit of businesses everywhere
    • People who have money will gain the latest and best models of technology
    • Negative
    • Can also decrease the sales and overall profit of businesses because the divide that it causes
    • In less developed countries and average income households, it can negatively impact the sales in those particular places who do not have enough money to be constantly buying the newer technology compared to a more developed country
  17. Environmental issues surrounding:

    • increases in the production of e-waste.
    • Positive
    • There aren't any positives involving increase in production of e-waste a part from a increase in jobs to clear/handle the increase in waste.
    • Negative
    • More problems in recycling and trying to be efficient with limited resources
    • The rise in e-waste means that the environment will put more pressure on companies and the workers to remove it and try to recycle it
    • If the materials being wasted are non-recyclable it affects the environment because the demand for that item will increase to and can directly affect the environment to obtain the
