  1. 1Data validationValidation is an automatic computer check to ensure that the data entered is sensible and reasonable. It does not check the accuracy of data. The computer can be programmed only to accept numbers between 11 and 16. This is a range check.
  2. 2Data sanitisationData sanitisation is the process of deliberately, permanently, and irreversibly removing or destroying the data stored on a memory device. A device that has been sanitized has no usable residual data and even advanced forensic tools should not ever be able recover erased data.
  3. 3AuthenticationThe process of identifying an individual, usually based on a username and password. In security systems, authentication is distinct from authorization , which is the process of giving individuals access to system objects based on their identity.
  4. 4Commentscomment is a programmer-readable explanation or annotation in the source code of a computer program. They are added with the purpose of making the source code easier for humans to understand, and are generally ignored by compilers and interpreters.
  5. 5Indentationthe placement of text farther to the right, or left, to separate it from surrounding text. Indent style, in programming a convention governing the indentation of blocks of code to convey the program's structure.
