Fichas del conjunto (10)
- 1What does MAR stand for and what is it's purpose?MAR stands for Memory Address Register and it stores addresses for location in memory so that the data can be read/ written from this location.
- 2What does MDR stand for and what is it's purpose?MDR stands for Memory Data Register and it stores the memory that needs to be written/ just read from memory.
- 3What is the function of the Program Counter? The Program counter has the memory address of the next instruction so the control unit knows which instruction needs to be executed.
- 4What is the function of the Accumulator? The Accumulator stores intermediate results of calculations done by the ALU (arithmetic and Logic Unit).
- 5What is the CPU and how is it organised? The CPU contains Control Unit, ALU, Registers and Cache.
- 6Describe FETCH:FETCH:
PC is copied to MAR.
The address is sent to RAM using address bus.RAM sends data stored in that memory location back on data bus. This data is stored in MDR. - 7Describe DECODE:DECODE:
The Control unit works out what to do. - 8Describe EXECUTE:EXECUTE:
