Fichas del conjunto (10)
- 1Sound Sampling-Audio is sampled by measuring the amplitude at regular intervals.
-More samples per second means that it will have better sound quality but it will take up more space. - 2RAM (Primary Storage)-Random Access Memory - Primary or main storage
-Used to store programs and data that is currently being used.
-Fast but volatile ( needs power to keep it's data ) - 3Flash Memory (Primary Storage)- NAND memory
- Non-Volatile, but can be changed - 4Cache Memory (Primary Storage)- small, but extremely fast on the CPU.
- Faster than RAM
-Used to store frequently used instructions and data to speed up execution - 5Magnetic Hard Drive (secondary storage)- Stores data on a spinning magnetic disk.
- large
-Cheap per MB
-Fragile
-Suitable for main storage on a non-portable device - 6Magnetic Tape (secondary storage)-Stores on a long strip of magnetic material
-Very large
-Very cheap per MB
-Data has to be read in order
-Suitable for backups - 7Solid State Drive (secondary storage)- Fast
- Durable
- Portable
- Currently more expensive than magnetic drives, but they are getting cheaper. - 8Optical Disks- Very cheap and portable
- Slow
- Requires the computer to have a reader - 9CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer)- Have an instruction set which includes complex operations, multiple steps can be completed in a single execution.
- Are physically larger
- Execute complex operations very quickly.
-ARM processors used in desktop PCs are CISC - 10RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer)-Have a smaller Instruction set with simple, single step instructions
-Slower than CISC processor
-Use less power
-Cheaper to produce and physically smaller
-Used in smartphones and tablets
