- 1abnormal datatest data that falls outside of what is acceptable and should be rejected.
- 2ActuatorActuators are the output devices responsible for creating real world movement.
Actuators include electric motors, pistons and pumps. - 3AlgorithmAn algorithm is a set of instructions/steps that are followed to solve a problem.
- 4AlgorithmsAn algorithm is a set of instructions/steps/rules that are followed to solve a problem.
There are two common methods to express algorithm designs, they are pseudocode and flowcharts.
Both methods are perfectly acceptable and have their individual merits. - 5Arithmetic and Logic Unit [ALU]The Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU) is the part of the CPU where arithmetic (add, subtract etc) and logic (AND, OR, NOT etc) operations are carried out.
- 6Assembly LanguageA low level programming language used to relate to the specific architecture and hardware of a particular type of computer
- 7Asynchronous data transmissionA protocol used for keeping data synchronised when transmitted.
Data is transmitted in discrete packets (usually 1 byte).
Each packet of data is sent with control bits to allow the receiver to know when the data starts and ends. - 8Accumulator [AC]The Accumulator is where intermediate arithmetic and logic results are stored.
