Factors that affect CPU performance

Fichas del conjunto (9)
- 1What is Overclocking?Overclocking is pushing your computer components harder and faster than the manufacturer designed them to go.

- 2What is Cache Memory?Cache is a small amount of memory which is a part of the CPU. It is used to temporarily hold instructions and data that the CPU is likely to reuse.

- 3What is Clock Speed? The operating speed of a computer or its microprocessor, expressed in cycles per second (megahertz).

- 4What is parallel Processing?A mode of operation in which a process is split into parts,
which are executed simultaneously on different processors
attached to the same computer.
- 5What does having multiple cores mean? The more cores the CPU has, the more processes can be
carried out simultaneously.
- 6What does pipelining mean?Full optimisation of the CPU so that all registers
and components are operating simultaneously, not
necessarily working on the same FDE cycle.
- 7What is an Address Bus?An address bus is a collection of wires that connect both the main
memory and the CPU together.
- 8What does the width of an Address Bus define? The width of the address bus defines how much memory
a CPU can access.
- 9What are the 3 main factors that affect CPU performanceClock Speed
Number of Cores
Type and size of Cache
