- 1ParadigmsParadigms are used to solve problems in different ways. There are 4 different types of paradigms. Some languages such as python use more than 1 paradigm.
- 2ProceduralSeries of instructions that tell the computer what to do with the input in order to solve the problem
- 3Procedural ID-Built-in data types such as integer, real or float, character, boolean and string.
- Typically has data structures as array and record.
-Works in a stack. Items can be added and removed only from the top. - 4Object-OrientedObject-Oriented was developed to make it possible to abstract details of implementation away from the programmer, make code reusable and programs easy to maintain
- 5Object-Oriented ID-A class is defined as the description of its state and behaviour
-Data objects are called objects
-Each object has a class with its own set of behaviours
-Can be resued - 6Advantages of Object-oriented-Forces designers to go through extensive planning faze which makes for better designs with fewer weaknesses.
-Source code can be written, tested and maintained independently.
-New objects can easily be created
-Reusability
-Provides a good framework for code libraries with a range of software components that can easily be adapted.
-Much easier to maintain. - 7DeclarativeWrite statements that describe the problem to be solved and the language implementation decides the best way of solving it
- 8FunctionalUsed as fundamental building blocks of programs. Statements are written as a series of functions which accept input data as arguments and return an output.
- 9InheritanceSubclasses are said to inherit properties from the superclass
- 10PolymorphismRefers to a programming languages ability to process objects differently depending on their class.
- 11Construct and inheritanceInheritance is indicated by the inherits keywords, and superclass methods are defined with keyword super.
