- 1Computer softwareSoftware, instructions that tell a computer what to do. Software comprises the entire set of programs, procedures, and routines associated with the operation of a computer system. The term was coined to differentiate these instructions from hardware—i.e., the physical components of a computer system.
- 2BlaggingBlagging is the act of creating and using an invented scenario to engage a targeted victim in a manner that increases the chance the victim will divulge information or perform actions that would be unlikely in ordinary circumstances.
- 3phishingPhishing is a cybercrime in which a target or targets are contacted by email, telephone or text message by someone posing as a legitimate institution to lure individuals into providing sensitive data such as personally identifiable information, banking and credit card details, and passwords.
- 4shoulderingShouldering is looking at someone's information over their shoulder, for example looking at someone enter their PIN in a shop or at a cashpoint. A person can prevent this by using their hand to cover the keypad as they type their PIN, or being aware of people around them when typing in PINs.
- 5social engineeringSocial engineering is the art of exploiting human psychology, rather than technical hacking techniques, to gain access to buildings, systems or data
