Aims to achieve geopolitical stability and hold governments accountable for actions against the welfare/human rights of people. - 13Superpowers have huge resource demands:-Increased wealth + standard of living so demands of energy/ resources increased.
-Demands lead to climate change, sea level rise due to deforestation etc
-Env sensitive areas e.g. Arctic can be exploited e.g. fracking. - 14Superpowers must become global leaders in tackling climate change:-USA reluctant to lead on climate change w/ failure to ratify 1997 Kyoto Protocol + shift to unconventional sources of energy.
-Rise of China= become world’s largest carbon emitter (2007).
