- 9What does RAM stand for and what is it?RAM stands for "random access memory" It is volatile and it stores the data that you are currently working on.
- 10What is the difference between static RAM and dynamic RAM?Static RAM never has to be refreshed and it is faster than dynamic RAM. However, it is more expensive and it takes up more space. Dynamic RAM has to be refreshed often, otherwise it will forget what it is holding. . It is slower than static RAM but it is cheaper.
- 11What does ROM stand for and what is it?ROM cannot be changed by a program or user. It is non-volatile and it stores the instructions for the computer to start again when it is turned on.
- 12What does BIOS stand for and what is it?BIOS stands for Basic input/output system. It is stored in a flash memory chip and is responsible for inputs and outputs.
- 13What is the bootstrap?The bootstrap loads a program into a computer using a much smaller initial program to load in the desired program.
