Define the dependent variable. This is what you are trying to measure. It depends on all the other variables.
Define the independent variable. This is what you are trying to test to see what effect it has on the dependent variable.
Define the controlled variable. These are all the other variables you don't want to test right now.
Name all three of the different variables. The controlled variable, the independent variable and the dependent variable.
Define what a fair test is. It's when you change only one controlled variable to become a independent variable.
Define a variable that is kept the same throughout the experiment. That is called the controlled variable.
Define the variable that is changed during the experiment. This is called the independent variable.
Define the variable that changes naturally because another variable has been changed. This is called the dependent variable.
Explain why only one variable should be changed in any single experiment? Because then it is not a fair test and you don't know which independent variable caused the effect on the dependent variable.
Why must you assess risks when you are designing an investigation? To make sure no one or yourself is harmed or injured during the experiment.
Explain why you should try to collect 5 or more results in an experiment? Then you can remember every step and changes you did in the test and what the outcome was.
How do you plot a graph? When plotting a graph, you first decide which type of graph you need to use. Line graphs are used when you two sets of continuous measurements like height, mass or time.
How do you assess risks? If there are any risks, they you need to find a ways to minimise them or you need to change your procedure to something safer.
How do you choose appropriate equipment? For the bouncing tennis ball investigation, the starting height of the ball could be measured with a ruler or a tape measure.
How do you write a conclusion? Your conclusion must answer your purpose or aim of your experiment.
