  1. Discovering Some Problems in the Writing of Scientific Research Articles (AIC) from Graduate Students

  2. Its purpose is to

  3. Describe and classify a number of errors identified in written Aics

  4. Conducted by a group of graduate students

  5. Where the next 2 points will be displayed

  6. The theoretical difficulties faced by those who must master the AIC as a genre

  7. Methodology

  8. Some empirical studies have documented specific problems in the writing of this type of text by university students.

  9. Participated in the research 6 students of the Interdisciplinary Master’s Program in Latin American Studies of the University of La Serena, Serena, Chile

  10. Having three main lines of development

  11. Linguistic

  12. Literature

  13. Philosophy

  14. An intervention was made which consisted of

  15. Subjects 1, 2, 3 and 4 their initial formation was Pedagogy in Spanish and Philosophy; subject 5 Journalism and subject 6 Pedagogy in History

  16. A seminar lasting 20 sessions, with an average time of 3 hours, reaching a total of 60 hours of face-to-face instruction

  17. In addition to this, a series of eight workshops was carried out, therefore, it had an original version and another corrected version.

  18. RESULTS

  19. Difficulties of micro-writing

  20. Reference is made to a series of phenomena that are restricted to the limits of the sentence, defined as the grammatical unit with at least one simple, coordinated or complex verbal predicate

  21. Including we include two subcategories

  22. Spelling difficulties: Literal spelling, punctuation, and accentuation problems are considered

  23. Style difficulties: Problems related to the writing and use of vocabulary are shown.

  24. Difficulties of macro-writing

  25. This is a series of phenomena that relate to the whole text or to larger structural parts of it (paragraphs, subparagraphs, parts, etc.).

  26. Within this general category, we have included subcategories

  27. this lack of homogeneity in formal aspects, referring to bibliographical references and direct quotations in the body of work.

  28. the lack of hierarchy of information, there is a lack of hierarchy, sequencality and coherence in the way information is presented, since the topics to be developed are dealt with in a truncated manner

  29. ‘structural inadequacy’; refers to the non formal correspondence of an extract with a specific structural part of the texts produced. The relevance of the category derives from the indications given in each workshop

  30. CONCLUSIONS

  31. We divide this final section into three parts

  32. In relation to the results

  33. In the micro-writing category, they are very common, of a more basic type and are more related to the general practice of writing (for example, their causes may be the lack of revision and planning of the writing task)

  34. The problems of macro-writing, on the other hand, are more closely related to the specific practice involved in the production of this textual type, which gives more clues associated with a writing of specialized type, which involves specific competences

  35. Second the fact that workshops (based on the logic of analysis and production) have been oriented to specific parts of the structure of the texts has caused the students a more detailed knowledge of the functions of each part of the type of text in question.

  36. In this connection, it should be noted, by way of general assessment, that the collective editing of texts not only generated better quality texts, but also produced a sort of domino effect, since the number of errors gradually decreased with the development of the work, that is, the suggestions received for the text of one subject systematically caused an improvement in the texts of the other subjects
