Computer Memory

1. RAM

   • RAM is memory used by programs that are running and need to store data
   • RAM is volatile so all of it's information is wiped when the computer is turned off
   • The RAM is used to store instructions that are sent to the CPU

2. ROM

   • ROM contains the boot up system
   • It is Nonvolatile
   • Stands for Read Only Memory
   • The BIOS is a Rom chip.
     • BIOS stand for Basic Input/ Output System

3. Virtual Memory

   • It is used when the RAM is filled up, it creates a page file in the hard drive
   • It is volatile.
   • Using to much Virtual Memory will slow down the computer
