1. Mechanical Control

   • Rods
   • Cables
   • Rods and cables connected directly from cockpit to control system
   • Most common on small aircraft

2. Hydraulic Control

   • Mechanical components (Rods and cables)
   • Hydraulic components
   • Hydraulic components convert mechanical input to hydraulic output

3. Deign of Control Surfaces & Tabs

   • Control surface is the hinged/pivoted part of the trailing edge of the profile
     • Can change camber of the profile to increase or decrease lift

4. Balance Panel

   • Panel connected to leading edge control surface
   • Divides front control surface into two chambers
     • Upper
     • Lower
     • Seals keep two chambers separated
   • Static pressure allowed into chanmbers via slots
   • Difference in pressure produces a force on the balance panel
     • Assists deflection
